The New World of Grizzleheim :

KingsIsle Entertainment to Launch New
Wizard101 World: Grizzleheim  :

Inspired by Norse mythology, Grizzleheim is an airy, outdoor landscape of snowy mountains, glacial ridges and towering trees that is home to three new Wizard101 tribes - Bears, Wolves and Ravens. Players will first encounter the Viking Bears of Grizzleheim, great traders with the ability to travel the worlds of the Spiral, in the free-to-play areas of WizardCity. As student wizards adventure through subseq uent worlds, Grizzleheim will offer new quests, new locations to explore, new opponents and new Viking-themed decorative housing items interspersed throughout the mid and higher levels of the game.

Grizzleheim is expected to roll out beginning in June. As with other new content, the world will launch first on the Wizard101 test server, where subscribers will help beta test features before it goes live in the game. Wizard101 has an ESRB rating of E10+. Pre-paid gift cards are available at major U.S. retailers.

Wizard101 the game will be offline on Monday May 4th from 3:00am to 4:00am Central US Time. During this time you will not be able to log in & players in the game will be prompted to log out.

The Wizard101 Story

The story of Wizard101 begins with the player creating a character. The player then takes a quiz to pick their selective school of magic (they are also given the option to choose it themselves). The schools are Fire, Ice, Storm (the elemental schools), Life, Myth, Death (the spiritual Schools), and Balance (a school based on finding a "balance" in all the schools of magic). During the tutorial, the created character comes face to face with the main villain of the game, the previous teacher for the school of Death, Malistare Drake. Throughout the game, the main storyline involves discovering Malistare's plans, and trying to foil them.

After a period of doing "quests" in the starter world "Wizard City", the player can access a second world, Krokotopia, where it is revealed that Malistaire wishes to obtain an ancient book of magic known as the "Krokonomicon" to use for unknown, but undoubtedly evil, purposes. When the Krokonomicon is transported to another world, Marleybone, the player follows the lead. After the Krokonomicon is stolen by the master thief Meowiarty on behalf of Malistaire, the latter conspires with the Oni Demons in the land of Moo Shu to help him steal the key to the final world, Dragonspyre (the latest game area, released on January 19^th, 2009). The player successfully defeats each Oni, but Malistaire had already left Moo Shu, and continues the final movement in his evil plot in Dragonspyre. He dubs himself the "Necromaster," controlling the armies of the Dragon Titan at the top of a massive volcano in its center. He attempts to resurrect his wife using the Krokonomicon by persuading the Dragon Titan to bring her back from the afterlife. While he is eventually defeated by the player, he and his wife gain peace. The storyline, however, is not over, as there will be other worlds added to the Spiral (the universe in which the game takes place). Additionally, the staff of KingsIsle have hinted that Malistaire is not truly dead

Test Realm Opens to Preview Housing in Wizard101

To our Subscribers and players who have made a Crowns purchase in the last 30 days, we invite you to test out some of our new features on the Wizard101 Test Realm.

We will be looking to you to test out the following additions to Wizard101:

• Housing - Housing and housing item vendors can be found in all the worlds of the Spiral. Decorate your house or your Dorm room!
• Voiceovers have been added for Marleybone, MooShu and Dragonspyre
• Tips will appear to alert you to any items you have received as a reward.
• Run Speed modifiers can be found on Crowns items and as boss drops.
• Markers can now be placed that will allow you to recall back to a marked location.
• New messaging for Dungeons when you enter and if you log out while inside.
• New messaging for Quest drops such as 'Collect Armor'.
• Boat and Balloon rides are now optional.
• Friend Requests show more information about the character.
• The ghosts have fled from Firecat Alley and Triton Avenue to be replaced with different creatures.

   Spring Features

   Wizard101 is a mainstream massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that has attracted well over one million players. The new features now live in the 3D virtual world include:

New High Level Spells
For level 48+ players, a new spell card for each of the seven schools of magic is available through a quest, with a special surprise for those that succeed. See your professors to get started!

Training Point Flexibility
See Mr. Lincoln in Golem Court for buying back your training points with Crowns (Wizard101's micro transaction currency). With this new feature, Wizards may buy back the training points they used and spend them on different spell cards.

Quest Helper
Stuck on a quest? No more! Find help by going to your Quest Journal and highlighting the desired quest. The yellow arrow on your screen will guide you to your quest.

Player vs. Player Rewards
PvP Master Diego has new rewards, including a new pet, for those that excel in the Player vs. Player Arena.

Best Friends The Friends Panel now allows you to identify best friends and family members with a star in the Friends List. Click on a star next to a player name to select (favorite) or un-select (not favorite) other players. Best friends will rise to the top of the list alphabetically and appear in light purple.

Wizard101 was designed with the safety of young players in mind. The game contains no blood, and characters don't die if they are defeated in a duel of spells-they simply go to a safe area in the game to regain health. The game was awarded a 2008 Parent Tested Parent Approved Media Seal of Approval. Wizard101 is rated E10+ by the ESRB. Anybody with a Windows based PC can play the Free-to-Play areas of the game for as long as they like. KingsIsle lets players choose subscription or microtransaction methods for advanced content. Family plan subscriptions are $6.95 per month and general subscriptions are $9.95. Micropayment zones give permanent access to particular streets or areas within the game for as little as a $1.

Here are some downtime messages:

Wizard101 Test Realm Downtime

Beginning at 9am Central US time on April 30th, the Wizard101 Test Realm will be offline for approximately four hours. During this downtime players will not be able to log in to the Test Realm, and are invited to continue to enjoy playing Wizard101 on the Live Realm.

Players will experience a loss of items and experience in the Test Realm after this downtime. This does not affect your characters in the Live Realm in any way.

On April 30th, Wizard101 the game will be offline during our regular maintenance window of 3am to 4am Central US time. During this downtime, players will be unable to log in to the Live Wizard101 game, and players who are in the game will be prompted to log out.

During this downtime, the billing section of the website may also experience brief interruptions in service.
